ORIGINAL POST: Try getting married on a night than Saturday, this tends to save you a lot of money when booking a reception hall, many vendors will give a discount if you schedule on an off day.
If the weather permits, consider getting married in a backyard, or at a park.
Consider a potluck luncheon, where you ask family members to help out with the food.
And my final suggestion, USE LOCAL VENDORS! You may think that doing it yourself is always cheaper, but I found that when it came down to it, there were some things I could do cheaper, but there were lots of things that I ended up paying more for, to do it myself! My best friend recently went into wedding decorating and looking at the prices of their company, I was shocked to see how affordable it could be. And what a headache it would have saved me. It is your day, so spend just enough so that you are not worried about anything except your future spouse.
I hope that helps.
